BENJAMIN DAVIS

Benjamin Davis, MA, ATR-BC, LCAT (he/him) is a psychotherapist, educator and author, as well as the founder and director of Full Spectrum. Over the past two decades, Benjamin has focused on the unique and specific needs of transgender and non-binary individuals and families. Benjamin uses art therapy and verbal modalities with youth and adult clients, aiming build personal agency and empower healing. His approach to therapy is warm, empathic and strength-based.

 

Benjamin’s work is informed by non-pathologizing treatment models, community-based research, creative arts modalities, family systems theory and queer advocacy. He has presented in hospital, academic, and agency settings nationally and internationally. His partnerships have included the New York City Department of Health, Callen Lorde Community Center, the Gender Identity Project, the Ackerman Institute's Gender & Family Project, and the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). Benjamin is WPATH GEI SOC7 Certified and on faculty at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development. Benjamin’s last two publications include Oxford University Press's What Everyone Needs to Know: Gender (2020), and Art Therapy Practices for Resilient Youth: A Strengths-Based Approach to At-Promise Children and Adolescents, published by Routledge in 2019.

 

Benjamin provides psychotherapy, clinical supervision and consultation, as well as training for therapists and educators.
